Personality: Juliet possesses what one might call a "no fucks given" attitude. She's calm, placid, speaks softly, and gives the impression of someone who is quietly intimidating. She doesn't have to do or say anything, but you know if she put a gun to your head or made a threat, she'd make good on it. She's merciless and cold if you get on her bad side, but she prefers sharp words to physical violence, and her poker face is a force to be reckoned with- you can almost never tell what she's thinking when she doesn't want you to.
And absolutely none of this is real.
It's real enough- she'll shoot you if you feels it's necessary and she'll manipulate you, lie to you, and do whatever she has to in order to get out of a situation, but that's a front. Juliet is a woman who has built herself from the ground up and everything she is now is not the woman she was. She just couldn't survive that way. While she hides this attitude from Ben and pretends to be his partner and lapdog, much like she did with her ex-husband, she wound up doing to him everything that she never got to do to her ex-husband- shoving him so far back in his place that she eventually severs her ties with him so completely that he never comes looking for her. Since integrating herself fully within the ranks of the survivors of Oceanic 815 and earning their trust, she hasn’t had to lie or manipulate as much, which pleases her, because while she can do it and not care, that doesn’t mean she likes doing it. It's just natural to her, because she has to look out for herself and can't trust anyone to look out for her anymore.
Once a mousy doormat of a woman who let people push her around, Juliet shattered under the weight of too many losses and too much stress when she came to the island. People played games with her, mistreated her, and made her out to be an outsider, because of Ben's feelings for her (that she didn't return). Unable to cope with the games these people played, she slowly began to take control over her life, going as far as to sleep with a married man because she could and because he was there and it was high time she actually got something she wanted. She kept the affair secret, however, because even growing into a harder person, she could still feel shame and regret and acknowledge what she was doing was wrong, but the point stood- it was the one thing in her life she felt like she had control over. There's not a whole lot of that mousy woman left and Juliet doubts she'll ever find her again. What she has now is a woman who is much stronger and determined to have control over her own fate, however she has to play it. Because of this, you can't really intimidate her. She's seen all the power plays and she's done with it, so step off or back up your threats. Judging her for anything will get her claws out and she'll be the first to tell you to make sure your hands are clean before you lay her out for judgment.
Juliet follows orders well, in her own words, so she typically defaults to being told what to do in a situation and playing the "good soldier" role when she has to. She's not a natural leader and prefers to defer to other people in a crisis regardless of the part she's playing, but she won't hesitate to call people on their bullshit when they're making rash decisions she doesn't agree with. She's practical and logical, but also deeply emotional, regardless of how guarded she is. To avoid falling back into the easily manipulated woman she once was and seems to idle along on “emotionally neutral”- often choosing to walk away when she starts to actively get emotional about something where people can see it and only showing emotion in extreme situations or when she feels comfortable letting her walls down. As a doctor, every patient she has, she becomes close to in her own way, even if her own way comes off as coolly dispassionate at first- though always gentle. While she can be blunt and to the point (and will kill without hesitation), she cares deeply about what happens to people under her care and will not hesitate to be tactless or forceful when it comes to their own safety. She loves strongly and passionately, but has a cynical outlook on romance, due to her parents’ divorce and her own failed marriage. It's not difficult to tear down her walls and charm your way into her bed, but getting her to treat it as something real and genuine and not just two people playing games is very difficult. She doesn't like that she constantly has to lose people in her life and lives in fear of it happening again- it's not a fear of intimacy, it's a fear of being left behind.
She can be caustic and snarky and has a dry, deadpan sense of humor that not everyone can appreciate. While it’s hard to believe, considering some of her past actions, she is a noble and kindhearted woman and would do anything for the people she cares about- almost everything she's done thus far has been for her sister, after all. Although, she isn’t the sort to go running after people who insist on being stupid- she expects people to listen to her and if they don’t, then they’ve clearly got to learn from their own mistakes and she’ll just sit back and worry herself to death over them. She's a big sister- not a mom. She's not going to tie your shoelaces for you, but she's going to punch your arm verbally and storm off when you don't listen and coldly say "I told you so" when you come back bleeding. Now that she's no longer indulging in power plays, she's trying to redeem herself and is more capable of taking responsibility for her actions, because she doesn't have to hide from those actions to avoid the consequences anymore.
Powers/Abilties: While a fertility doctor by occupation (meaning she knows a lot about how to deal with pregnancies, deliver babies, etc.), Juliet has enough basic medical know-how from her residency to assist in surgical procedures and even perform one on her own with limited resources.
She has unarmed combat training and was capable of holding her own against Charlotte Lewis and Kate Austen in a fight- more than that, she actually owned Kate’s ass (once- Kate got her back). She’s quick on her feet and doesn’t let her anger get the best of her, making her a excellent defensive fighter. She also has proficiency with handguns, as well as rifles, both of which she uses with a casual sort of indifference that suggests that using them has become second nature to her.
She also speaks Latin fluently.
Appearance: Here. She's 5'11, blonde, and gorgeous. She also has a distinctive brand mark on her lower back.

Prose Sample: Juliet manuevered her way through the crowd, not so much shoving as parting the others with a few quiet, polite words. By the time she reached the middle of the throng of people, she could see the damage- one injured girl. The rest of it didn't matter, because her mind zeroed in on that single fact. There was a girl and she was hurt.
"Leave her be, Juliet," someone snapped from somewhere to her left. She stepped forward anyway and when someone moved to grab her arm, she sidestepped out of the way, backing into the empty circle of ground the girl was lying in, while this crowd watched her agonizing last breaths as if it was some sort of spectacle.
"She's not worth it."
"Stop. Just... Stop. I don’t want hear that. I don’t want to hear that she doesn’t deserve our help because she’s one of them." Her tone was neutral, despite this being a topic she was passionate about- she'd been that girl once. The outcast. The peg that didn't fit. She left the damn island and arrived here before she ever properly fit. "Maybe they’d be less hostile if people like you didn’t act like every one of them is a threat. She can’t do anything to us right now in her condition and if you think I’m going to stand here and let you leave an injured girl to die, no matter what she is, you’re wrong." She pulled the gun out of her back pocket and flicked off the safety.
"I have shot people for a lot less than this." She tilted her head and her voice grew even calmer, more eerie.
"Now please step away from her, so I can help her or I’ll have to waste time that could be spent getting her stable to make sure you don’t bleed to death." She almost smirked. Almost. "And if that's not convincing enough, consider this: I can live with blood on my hands- can you?"
